I stayed in bed as long as I could. Mommy, my human, finally said "Enough Dixie! It is time to get up."
I mumbled and grumbled and moaned and groaned. I just kept thinking that there was nothing to do because it was raining outside. I hate rainy days. I can't go outside and play like I normally do. I never understood why some days water just falls from the sky. I asked Mommy why it rains. She told me to check my bookshelf for a book about weather. I told her dogs can't read books, so I searched for weather on the internet. Here is what I found:
"Rain is a form of precipitation, other forms of which include snow, sleet, hail, and dew. Rain forms when separate drops of water fall to the Earth's surface from clouds. Not all rain reaches the surface, however; some evaporates while falling through dry air. When none of it reaches the ground, it is a precipitation called virga.
Rain plays a major role in the hydrologic cycle in which moisture from the oceans evaporates, condenses into clouds, precipitates back to earth, and eventually returns to the ocean via streams and rivers to repeat the cycle again."
After reading about rain, I wondered about how amazing nature is. I couldn't believe how wonderful it was that water cycled through so many phases and traveled all over the globe. I wondered about it and wondered about it some more.
I wondered...
And wondered...
And wondered...
I guess I was thinking about the weather and the rain for a long time because I realized that it was almost dinner time. I had spent half the day pondering the importance of the hydrologic cycle. Do you remember what that is? If you don't, its ok. But you can watch a video about it here:
After a long day of ignoring my humans, I decided to do something nice for them. I found one of my favorite toys and played with it until all the fun was all over the floor. I know that Mommy, my human, loves to play pick up the toy parts.
They love it when I take apart my toys for them. After Mommy played my game, she said I could go outside, even if it was still raining. I ran up to my room and hid back in bed. Maybe tomorrow will have better dog weather.
